SingaporeBrides shows you how to Do-It-Yourself.<\/i><\/p><p><b class=\"special\">I<\/b> <i>love<\/i> the recently trending giant LOVE marquee lights, especially when it is used to spruce up a wedding or a pre-wedding photoshoot. And it&#8217;s not difficult to see why this charming light prop is getting all the attention from brides lately, with its beautiful warm and romantic glow! But, if like me, you find it a little costly to rent or buy these giant marquee letters, or if you want a downsized version, we have just the solution for you.<\/p><p>In this DIY feature, I&#8217;ll show you how to create your very own LOVE marquee lights, using lightweight styrofoam boards to give a textured look to the lights, that you can easily bring along for your pre-wedding photoshoot or decorate your wedding venue and future home with. Let&#8217;s get started!<\/p><p class=\"special\"><b>Here\u2019s what you need:<\/b><br \/>Two pieces of 61&#215;45.5cm styrofoam boards<br \/>Two pieces of A3 coloured paper<br \/>A roll of double-sided tape<br \/>Gold spray paint<br \/>Styrofoam cutter and batteries<br \/>Scissors<br \/>Pen<br \/>Ruler<br \/>Scotch-tape<br \/>A 10-m string of fairylights \/ two to three 4-m string of fairylights<br \/><br \/><b>Time taken for each:<\/b> 30 minutes<br \/><b>Average cost for each set of 4-letter marquee lights:<\/b> $25<\/p><div class=\"banner\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\">OA_show(5);<\/script><\/div><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Textured-LOVE-Marquee-Lights-1.jpg\" alt=\"Textured LOVE Marquee Lights 1\"><p>Step 1: Print out this template for the LOVE letters. Trace the template onto a styrofoam board and cut them out using a styrofoam cutter.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Textured-LOVE-Marquee-Lights-2.jpg\" alt=\"Textured LOVE Marquee Lights 2\"><p>Step 2: Once you&#8217;ve cut them out, mark the spot where your lights will poke through with a pen. Then, create the holes using toothpicks. Tip: bundle 3 or more toothpicks together with a piece of scotch-tape to create a bigger hole for your lights.<\/p><p>Step 3: Then, spray paint the styrofoam letters in gold paint and set aside to dry.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Textured-LOVE-Marquee-Lights-3.jpg\" alt=\"Textured LOVE Marquee Lights 3\"><p>Step 4: Meanwhile, cut out four 4-inch wide strips on gold coloured paper. Make sure they are long enough to go around your letters. Once the letters are dry, wrap each of the strips around the letters using double-sided tape.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Textured-LOVE-Marquee-Lights-4.jpg\" alt=\"Textured LOVE Marquee Lights 4\"><p>Step 5: Finally, insert the fairy lights into the holes on the letters. Make sure the insertion of the lights end at the base of each letter to flawlessly connect your letters and lights together. Then, tape the excess wires behind the letters with scotch-tape.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Textured-LOVE-Marquee-Lights-5.jpg\" alt=\"Textured LOVE Marquee Lights 5\"><p>And ta-da! Your very own set of home-made textured LOVE marquee lights. Light and portable, use these lights for your pre-wedding photoshoot or decorate your wedding venue with them and dazzle your guests. You can even re-use them after your big day by decorating your future home with it.
