Their gorgeously vibrant wedding in India is a mesmerising celebration of culture and tradition. Karan was still studying in New Zealand at the time while I was in university in Singapore. We reconnected six months later when he completed his studies and took our time getting to know each other. Karan proposed three years into the relationship.<\/p><p><b><b>Do tell us all about the proposal!<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Jesreen:<\/i> It was a casual Sunday evening and Karan said he felt like a burger for dinner, which was nothing out of the ordinary. When we got to Plaza Singapura, he suddenly changed his mind and suggested going across the road to Giraffe, where we had our very first date. I thought nothing much of it. When we got there, a small group of our family and close friends were already there. I still didn\u2019t connect the pieces. It was a little bit of a blur from then on. He got down on one knee and said that he knew I was the one from the very first day we met. It only then hit me that he was going to propose. Of course, I said yes. We enjoyed a long engagement as Karan was shuttling between Hong Kong and Singapore because of his job. We kicked off the wedding celebrations in a four-day affair in New Delhi, India, where we did all the pre-wedding festivities, followed by the Hindu rites of marriage and a dinner reception. It was grand, magical, colourful, yet traditional. Karan entered the grounds on a white horse, a sword in hand, followed by an entourage of a band &#8230; everything you would expect in an Indian wedding. We then did the Sikh rites, followed by the solemnisation and dinner reception in a two-day affair in Singapore two weeks later. We had people travel from all parts of the world, and that too for two destinations. It was a huge display of love and friendship on so many levels.<\/p><p><b><b>Which was your favourite part of the month-long celebrations?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Jesreen:<\/i> Personally, the solemnisation at The Rocks, Shangri-la Sentosa, was the most emotional for me, despite it being the last ceremony. Karan played the guitar to a song that meant something to us, as I walked in with my parents. We then recited our vows we had written for each other.
