S<\/b>oulmates Natasha Lim, 30, In-house Legal Counsel, and Jonathan Pek, 31, Cyber Security Specialist, met over drinks at a friend’s bar on one of those nights that was never meant to be memorable, but ended up changing everything. The lovebirds realised that their circles had overlapped for years but had never crossed paths until that fateful night. At the end of that night, Jonathan made the first move and slid into Natasha\u2019s Instagram DMs. The texting started almost immediately, and from that moment, everything fell into place. After a private proposal in New Zealand, Natasha and Jonathan searched for the perfect wedding venue, only to find it at The Singapore EDITION, where they tied the knot in a joyous and elegant celebration with their nearest and dearest.<\/p>

Tell us more about the night you first met.<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Both<\/i>: Jon was there with his best friend, while Nat had come with her brother and a few family friends. We later realised our circles had overlapped for years\u2014Jon knew Nat\u2019s brother through mutual friends, and Nat knew Jon\u2019s best friend too\u2014so it felt less like meeting a stranger and more like finally crossing paths.<\/p>

As the night went on, the two groups merged naturally. There were shared pitchers, lots of laughter, and a surprisingly competitive game of beer pong. We were both a little tipsy, which definitely helped with the conversations\u2014and probably the confidence too. To this day, we joke that we met at exactly the right level of tipsy: fun enough to be memorable, but not so far gone that we forgot it all the next morning.<\/p>

What drew you to each other?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Both<\/i>: One detail that brought us closer very quickly was discovering our birthdays are just one day apart. In our first year together, we celebrated them jointly, and it soon became a yearly tradition\u2014now it\u2019s less about the birthdays and more about gathering the people we love for one big celebration.<\/p>

Looking back, what drew us to each other was how natural everything felt. Conversation was easy, we shared the same sense of humour, and our personalities balanced each other in a way that just worked. What started as a chance meeting has grown into a partnership that feels steady, joyful, and very much like home.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

What is it about your partner that you love the most? What was the moment that made you realise that he\/she was the one for you?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Natasha<\/i>: Jon has this cheeky side that never fails to make me laugh. Life with him is fun and light, and he constantly reminds me not to take things too seriously. At the same time, he pushes me to grow. He teaches me things I didn\u2019t know, challenges the way I think, and opens my eyes to new perspectives. We complement each other naturally\u2014he\u2019s strong in areas where I\u2019m not, and being with him makes me feel supported, grounded, and most importantly, safe.<\/p>

There wasn\u2019t a dramatic moment when I realised he was the one. Somewhere along the way, life just started to feel right with him. The conversations were easy, the silences were comfortable, and showing up for each other became second nature.<\/p>

One day I realised he had quietly become the person I wanted to share everything with\u2014my thoughts, my plans, my worries, and all the little in-between moments. It wasn\u2019t loud or cinematic. It was calm, certain, and felt completely natural.<\/p>

Jonathan: Nat\u2019s really cute\u2014but more than that, she brings a sense of calm into my life that I didn\u2019t realise I needed. Where I can be a bit chaotic, she\u2019s organised, thoughtful, and somehow always on top of things. I have about zero items in my reminders app; she probably has a hundred. She keeps our life running smoothly, but never makes it feel like work.<\/p>

What I admire most is her quiet strength. No matter what\u2019s going on, she has a way of steadying the situation and helping me see things clearly. She grounds me, calls me out when I need it, and still makes space for us to be silly and completely ourselves.<\/p>

I realised Natasha was the one when she became the first person I wanted to tell everything to\u2014the good news, the stressful days, the random thoughts. Her opinion mattered most, and without even noticing it, I had started factoring her into every decision about the future. Being with her has always felt easy and certain. At some point, I stopped wondering whether she was the one and started thinking about when I could make her my wife.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Jonathan, tell us about the proposal \u2014 how did you go about planning it n? <\/b><\/b><\/p>

The proposal was as \u201cstraight forward\u201d as it seems. We were travelling to New Zealand, one of my favourite travel destinations, in late September 2024. Nat has never been a fan of big, public gestures, so I wanted the moment to feel private and intentional\u2014just the two of us, somewhere quiet. I also love finding places that are a little off the typical tourist trail, so after quite a bit of searching, I landed on Lake Rotoiti Jetty in St Arnaud. It\u2019s not the most famous spot, but the views are incredible, especially at sunset. The biggest challenge? The cold. I knew it would be chilly, but I definitely underestimated it. Nat spent a good portion of the time with her hands tucked into her pockets (even as I was proposing).<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Natasha, did you know a proposal was coming before it happened, or were you taken completely by surprise?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

I knew the proposal would happen during our New Zealand trip\u2014mostly because I insisted on choosing my own ring\u2014but I had no idea at which part of the trip it was going to happen. So when Jon finally did it, I was still genuinely surprised. For one, it was absolutely freezing and all I could focus on was how cold I was. And I was also trying very hard to ignore the fact that I really needed the bathroom.<\/p>

Despite all that, the moment itself felt incredibly special. I especially appreciated that it was just the two of us, with no crowd or distractions, surrounded by beautiful scenery and nature\u2014simple, private, and very true to who we are as a couple.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

What was your wedding planning like?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Both<\/i>: From the very beginning, we knew we wanted a wedding that felt less like a formal event and more like a really great party\u2014the kind where our family and friends could relax, celebrate, and genuinely have a good time. We both love hosting, so creating that atmosphere was important to us.<\/p>

We actually started planning quite early, around mid-2023\u2014even before Jon proposed. We already knew marriage was on the horizon, and with how competitive wedding venues in Singapore can be, securing a place we loved was a top priority.<\/p>

Our first introduction to The Singapore EDITION was at a wine event. We remember joking to each other that it would be an amazing place for a wedding, but at the time we didn\u2019t think too much about it and continued viewing other venues.<\/p>

But the moment we stepped into the hotel one evening to meet the wedding coordinator, everything changed. There was something about the space\u2014the mood, the design, the atmosphere\u2014that immediately drew us in. It didn\u2019t feel like we were in Singapore at all, and that was exactly what we wanted: a venue that felt special, almost like a destination without needing to leave home.<\/p>

The Singapore EDITION matched our vision perfectly\u2014modern, elegant, and ideal for the kind of celebration we had in mind. We didn\u2019t take long to decide and quickly placed a deposit to secure our date. Looking back, it was one of the easiest decisions we made during the entire planning process.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Take us back to your wedding day \u2014 what was the day like and how were you feeling?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Both<\/i>: We had quite a few moving parts on the day\u2014from flowers, lighting and sound, to a dessert fondue cart, magazine photo booth, cocktail bar, and even a video guestbook. Because of that, we were definitely a little nervous about whether everything would come together as planned.<\/p>

Thankfully, our friends, vendors, and the hotel team took incredible care of the details, which allowed us to be fully present and enjoy the celebration. Once the wedding began, any nerves quickly disappeared.<\/p>

More than anything, we were just so happy to be surrounded by our guests and deeply grateful that they took the time to celebrate with us. The evening went by so quickly, and while we barely touched the food ourselves, hearing that everyone enjoyed it\u2014and certainly didn\u2019t go hungry\u2014made us very happy.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

What did your family\/friends have to say about your wedding day?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Both<\/i>: One piece of feedback we kept hearing was that the wedding felt very personal and thoughtfully put together. Guests could sense the effort that had gone into making the experience enjoyable for them, and that meant a lot to us because creating a warm, guest-centred celebration was always our intention.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Both<\/i>: Rather than one standout moment, what stays with us is the overall feeling of the day\u2014the energy in the room, the laughter, and the joy of having everyone we love gathered in one place. If anything, our only regret is how quickly it all passed. We would have happily relived the entire day just to spend a little more time soaking it all in.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

What is one lesson you\u2019ve learned from your wedding planning that you\u2019d like to share with other couples?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Natasha<\/i>: The lawyer in me would say\u2014never assume. Always ask questions and clarify the details, even if they seem small. Your wedding coordinator and vendors are there to support you and bring your vision to life, but clear communication makes all the difference. It saves you unnecessary stress and helps everything run much more smoothly.<\/p>

Jonathan<\/i>: Remember that it\u2019s your wedding\u2014so don\u2019t be afraid to do what truly makes you happy. There isn\u2019t a fixed template for how a wedding should look or feel, and the best celebrations are often the ones that reflect the couple\u2019s personalities. That said, it\u2019s important to balance creativity with practicality. Some ideas may sound great in theory, but thinking through the logistics will help ensure the day flows well for both you and your guests.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"
