W<\/b>hen Lim Lee Min, 34, who works in procurement, matched with Alvin Khoo, 40, the founder of Musical Touch<\/a>, on a dating app, sparks flew immediately. Their connection was instant \u2014 they felt at ease with each other from the start, and their conversations flowed effortlessly. After a surprise proposal, the couple embarked on a beautifully romantic pre-wedding shoot inspired by a meaningful theme: three generations, one love.<\/p>

What was it that attracted you to your partner?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Alvin<\/i>: It was her simplicity and her intentions to settle down. We could have long hours of meaningful conversations. She also gave me the feeling that she would be a good wife and mother.<\/p>

Leemin<\/i>: The first thing I noticed about him was how neat and presentable he looked. Being with him felt natural and easy \u2014 we could have meaningful conversations and truly connect. I\u2019ve always admired his ambition and drive in his career, which is one of the many reasons I\u2019m drawn to him.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

What is it about your partner that you love the most?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Alvin<\/i>: I love how she makes me feel at ease, and I can be myself without fear of judgement.<\/p>

LeeMin<\/I>:I love that he makes me feel comfortable when we\u2019re together and knows how to make me smile, even though he\u2019s not really a romantic person.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

What was the moment that made you realise that he\/she was the one for you?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Alvin<\/i>: In our two years of relationship, we broke up for a few months and tried never to get back together. But despite our efforts not to reconcile, we were constantly on each other\u2019s minds. That was when we realised that we were each the one for each other.<\/p>

LeeMin<\/i>: We\u2019ve been through so much \u2014 arguments, breakups, and people coming between us. We both hurt each other, and I once tried to let him go, but I just couldn\u2019t. When we finally spoke honestly, we realised our love had never faded. That\u2019s when I knew he was the one \u2014 because even after everything, we still chose each other. Now, we\u2019re married, have a child, and are living a simple, happy life together.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Alvin, how did you go about planning the proposal? Where did it take place, and were there any challenges\/obstacles during the process?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Leemin loves surprises and a proposal is very important for her. While I’m not a very romantic person, Leemin, on the other hand, loves surprises and a proposal is very important to her. So, I planned a surprise proposal at Ember Woodfire Restaurant and engaged Joanna from Lily & Co. to coordinate and decorate the venue. I also engaged Wilson from Multifolds Production and Precious Films to document the proposal.<\/p>

For me, my only requirement was for her parents, who live in Muar, Malaysia, to come down to Singapore with her siblings to witness the proposal. Thus, I contacted her parents to inform them of my intention to marry their daughter, and got the help of her youngest sister, Leena, to arrange the logistics of bringing her parents to Singapore, along with contacting the rest of her siblings to join in a surprise proposal dinner.<\/p>

In order not to raise her suspicions, I arranged for the proposal to be on Lantern Festival and told Leemin that it would be dinner for just the three of us.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Lee Min, did you know a proposal was coming before it happened, or were you taken completely by surprise?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

I honestly had no idea a proposal was coming. It happened on 12 February 2025 (Lantern Festival), and Alvin told me he had a dinner with his mother that couldn\u2019t be cancelled because the deposit was already paid. I believed every word \u2014 never once did I imagine he was secretly planning something so special. So when it happened, I was completely caught off guard\u2026 and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful surprises of my life.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Take us back to your pre-wedding shoot. What was the theme behind it? What was the planning like?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Leemin<\/i>: Our theme was inspired by a shoot I came across on Rednote. It felt so beautiful and meaningful – a story of love that stood the test of time. I was drawn to the idea of capturing how two souls, after years of growth and change, still find their way back to each other. It\u2019s deeply romantic, and it felt like the perfect reflection of our journey.<\/p>

Alvin<\/i>: As a co-founder of Precious Films, I thought it would be a great idea to do this as it was something new and unique in Singapore. However, because it was something new, we didn’t have any guidance on how to do it, so we had to do a lot of planning and research work online.<\/p>

The theme of our pre-wedding shoot was three generations of love – the very early Chinese days, the post-war era and modern day. For the first two generations, we went online to source for a Chinese Kua from a company called Gisselle Liu Studio, and went on Carousell to look for a post-war outfit, like those you’ve seen in the Ip Man series. Looking for a makeup artist who was familiar with China-style makeup and hairdo in the olden days was difficult. We were thankful to have found our makeup artist from China who specialises in this.<\/p>

For the third generation, we had help from Joanna from Lily & Co. to coordinate with all the vendors and look for a nice venue to film us walking down the aisle at the now-defunct Pan Americana and decorate the venue. <\/p> \"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

What was the actual shoot day like? Were there any challenges\/obstacles along the way?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

For our third generation set, some footage we wanted to take from the back view to the sea view was not possible as the location given to us to shoot was a different location from what we envisioned, and the trees were a little too tall.<\/p>

Nevertheless, Joanna from Lily & Co. did a great job on the decor to make up for it, and it was a breeze compared to our first and second generation shoots, because for the third generation, Joanna handled all the coordination with the vendors involved.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Were there any memorable or funny moments during the shoot?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Alvin<\/i>: It was so tiring doing the \u201cNGs\u201d \u2014 especially some of the kissing scenes \u2014 so much so that kissing suddenly became unenjoyable! The outdoor scenes were very hot, and it got both of us sweating like crazy, especially when I was fully suited up.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Do you have any advice about planning a pre-wedding shoot to share with couples who are currently planning theirs?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

If you\u2019re planning to have something unique, do some research online on the style that you\u2019re looking for. There are many styles we saw online, like Hong Kong police scene, Mafia gangster, and ours – three generations of love. Secondly, enquire with a few pre-wedding videographers to convey your artistic direction to them. Through the enquiry, you will be able to tell if your videographer can vibe with you.<\/p>
