T<\/b>here’s no one-size-fits-all procedure for a pre-wedding shoot. If typical themes like old money glamour in Italy or sun-kissed bliss in Bali don’t appeal to you, an urban neighbourhood aesthetic might be a better choice. Eunice and Nigel’s pre-wedding shoot in Osaka saw them interacting with locals, creating and capturing moments both picturesque and emotionally-resonant. The casual yet vulnerable setting was also a golden opportunity for Nigel to propose to Eunice, marking the beginning of their journey together as one. <\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

How did the two of you meet? <\/b><\/b><\/p>

We met 4 years ago at our previous workplace and we were ex-colleagues.<\/p>\"\"\"\"

What drew you to each other?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Eunice:<\/i> It was somehow mutual! We were spending loads of time together planning for operations and basically working long hours due to our work demands. For me, Nigel was always fun to be around. Although he tends to have this force field around him that makes me wonder what could be on his mind, his quirky persona always comes through! Most of the time, he could be both funny yet serious.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"

What is it about your partner that you love the most?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Eunice:<\/i> When I first met Nigel, he was always decked in cleanly-pressed shirts and tailored pants. He has always had this very put-together aura. He takes a lot of pride in his dressing, which translates even to how he is as a person. Neat, organised, yet very comfortable to be around.<\/p>\"\"\"\"

Nigel:<\/i> Eunice came off as a person that holds high standards. It’s true, whether in her work or in her cooking. This is something I love about her because it shows that she\u2019s responsible and matured enough to know what matters.<\/p>\"\"\"\"

What was the moment that made you realise that he\/she was the one for you?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

At the time we met, we were both facing our own personal issues and ended up confiding in each other for support. We realised that we each possessed traits that we were looking for in partners, such as our relationships and dynamics with family, our outlook towards life and how we approach issues at work. We sang the same tune and were comfortable being with each other. That’s when we knew things happened for a reason.<\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"

Nigel, how did you plan the proposal for Eunice?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Nigel:<\/i> It was supposed to be a surprise proposal. It took a couple of months to plan, with a photographer and very close friend involved. I knew all along that Eunice wanted it to be an intimate and quiet affair. Hence, flying overseas for the proposal naturally seemed to be the right choice. <\/p>\"\"\"\"\"\"

Tell us more about the venue you chose for the proposal and why?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Japan is a country that we both love, so of course that was where I planned to propose!<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"

Eunice, did you know he would propose that day and how did you feel when it happened?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Eunice:<\/i> We both knew that the wedding was gonna take place this year, so I kinda guessed that it was going to happen during our pre-wedding shoot in Osaka. I just didn’t know exactly when it would happen during the trip. I actually told my girl friends that I hate surprises because I’m terrible with the reactions that I’m supposed to portray. After the proposal, I hugged my close friend more than I hugged Nigel! Oops. I was more shocked to see my friend Julia and her husband Wei Fan there, that I didn’t embrace the moment as how I should have. But it’s perfectly fine.<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"

What were your favourite parts of the proposal?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Prior to the planned pre-wedding shoot in Osaka, we told Kai that we\u2019re awkward individuals. But Kai made us so comfortable while also asking us intimate questions about ourselves, so that our personalities could show through. We were able to pour out our deepest, most personal thoughts to each other, which made us treasure the moment so much more. We almost broke into tears at some point too! <\/p>\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"

Tell us more about the shoot that you had around Osaka, was there a theme for this shoot?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Honestly, we let Kai run the show. We wanted a casual shoot in an urban setting and sure enough, Kai delivered perfectly.<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"

Which places around Osaka did you choose to shoot at and why?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

The places that we shot at were shortlisted by Kai. He brought us to obscure neighbourhood areas, where we even met locals. We played with a cute little Japanese boy named Mitsuri at Ikeda and even shot with a group of teenagers playing makeshift baseball with an empty water bottle and a ball at Juso. We shot as we travelled, so they were at the most unexpected places! We stayed away from the usual touristy spots and I guess that was where the magic happened!<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"

How do the photos from this shoot reflect your relationship?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

There is a particular photo that Kai took when we were at Juso. We were both standing at the top of the stairs while Kai was across the road at a stop light. At that moment, the pedestrian crossing light was red and there was an older couple, waiting to cross.<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"

Kai framed the shot perfectly, it painted a story of our older selves looking upon us. When I first saw the picture, I immediately understood what Kai wanted to portray, and I felt goosebumps because it meant that our journey had only just begun. <\/p>\"pre-wedding\"

Ten to twenty years into the future, that photo will bring to mind this precious moment, serving as a reminder that our journey as a couple is not a sprint, but a marathon that should be filled with communication and vulnerability. We can never forget this moment. ♥<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"\"pre-wedding\"

What was most memorable about the shoot? <\/b><\/b><\/p>

The most memorable moment would have to be our shot with the little boy, Mitsuri, at Ikeda. It showed us a glimpse of what our lives could be like a few years down the road. Having a family of our own, just being with the people we love.<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"

Nigel, do you have any advice for grooms-to-be who are planning a proposal?<\/b><\/b><\/p>

Nigel:<\/i> Not much advice to be honest, because I\u2019m not the most romantic guy out there. But if there’s anything worth mentioning, open your ears and listen. More often than not, the details your girlfriend will share with you don’t surface in serious conversations. It might just be a super casual remark, but because they said it, it should hold significant weight!<\/p>\"pre-wedding\"
