Chanelle and Jay’s Italian-inspired Wedding at Bvlgari Resort Bali
Held at Bvlgari Resort Bali, Chanelle and Jay’s wedding consisting of their inner circle and shared interests was a celebration destined by the universe’s invisible strings.
Ever heard of the “meeting someone twice” theory? For those unfamiliar with the TikTok-viral term, let Chanelle and Jay’s love story be living proof that the theory can be true and real: if two people are meant to be together, the universe will eventually provide them a second chance at connection. Bvlgari Resort Bali saw these childhood crushes turn into lifelong partners, at a modern chapel ceremony by day and a European-themed reception by night.

Tell us about how you met.
Chanelle: Jay and I were primary school friends. We were each other’s first crush when we were 10, so it was just a puppy love kind of thing. Life took us in different directions, and we lost touch. But somehow, 25 years later, we found our way back to each other. We really did come full circle.

What was the proposal like?
Chanelle: Jay proposed during the lockdown back in 2021, in Singapore. Due to the lockdown, we weren’t able to travel overseas. He knew that I had always wanted a proposal at Cappadocia with hot air balloons, so during our pre-wedding shoot in Cappadocia, he surprised me with a remake of the proposal! It was a private arrangement at the rooftop of Mithra Cave Hotel, and we were super lucky that day to have it against a sky filled with hot air balloons. It was everything I had imagined, and more.
What do you love the most about your partner?
Chanelle: He’s been my biggest fan and supporter since we were 10. He listens even when I’m being dramatic, and always tries to grow into a better person.

Jay: She completes my world. Because of Chanelle, I see the world differently and started living life (with her in it).

Did you have a wedding theme?
Since reconnecting, we’ve travelled the world together—from the South of France to Florence, Tuscany, Monaco, Turkey…you name it. So when it came to our wedding, it only made sense to weave in the things we love most: travel, wine, and our favourite city, Tuscany.

We kept it intimate with just 60 of our closest people. Our invitation website was styled like a flight ticket and passport—a boarding pass to our next chapter. Guests found their seats through a board of envelopes, each table named after a city we’ve explored. A world map invited everyone to pin down where we should travel next.

Why did you choose to wed at your chosen wedding venue?
We fell in love with Tuscany when we travelled there together, and dreamt about having our wedding there. But since our families couldn’t travel that far, we looked for a place closer to home that could still capture that magic.

Chanelle: When we visited Bvlgari Resort Bali, we instantly fell in love — the architecture, the food, the atmosphere… as an Italian brand, of course it had all the elements of Italy. I personally fell in love with the cliff-view sunset the most, and enjoying cocktails at the terrace overlooking the cliff & sunset was one of the best parts. Thus, we put in a lot of effort to ensure the cocktail area was beautifully decorated with blossoms similar to those in Italy, guest activities that represented us as couple, and cello performances for our guests to enjoy while mingling.

What was the wedding planning process like?
Chanelle: Sweet and stressful! We took 9 months to plan everything — from the overseas photoshoot, to gown trials, to the recce in Bali, to overseeing every single detail of the wedding such as the theme, concept, dress code, decor, music, programme, anything and everything to do with the guest experience!

Chanelle: To us, the most important thing was for our guests to feel “us” at the wedding, so every single detail of the wedding represented our story together. Of course, we had some arguments about things, but most of the time I had the veto right and final say. It was a period of testing for both Jay and I, and we are glad that we managed to grow through it together.

What was the wedding day like?
The day began with a traditional East-meets-West tea ceremony, followed by a white-themed chapel ceremony at Bvlgari Resort Bali, overlooking the cliffs. As the sun dipped into the ocean, we moved into a Tuscany-inspired reception filled with colourful blooms, heartfelt toasts, and wine that flowed all night. It felt personal, dreamy, and completely us.

What was the most memorable moment of the wedding?
Chanelle: The first rehearsal of the march-in at the chapel with my father, when he held my hand and practised walking down the aisle with me.

Jay: When I watched her walk down the aisle with her father.

If you could share a piece of advice with couples currently planning their wedding, what would it be?
Chanelle: Just let the bride have what she wants, she has dreamt of this day for her entire life.
Jay: 3000% agreed.
