Pre-Wedding Videography with IrisWave and Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa

IrisWave helped Carissa and Xavier document their love in a beautiful pre-wedding video, set in Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa’s lush serenity.

Besides being a beautiful wedding venue, Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa offers scenic spots for stunning pre-wedding photography and videography as well. In the resort’s colonial design and rich heritage, fused with modern elements, Alvin Ang of IrisWave saw the perfect backdrop to capture Carissa Fan and Xavier Li’s love story.

To create their beautiful video, Alvin first met with Carissa and Xavier to learn more about their journey as a couple. Having first met in Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s rock climbing club, Carissa and Xavier only got together five years after graduation. Another five years later, Carissa said, “Yes” to a surprise proposal in Yogyakarta on her birthday.

Crafting his films using top-of-the-line cameras, lenses, and drones for sweeping, dramatic shots, Alvin takes the creation of each couple’s pre-wedding video seriously. “It’s an important and also a very personal product that we deliver,” Alvin says about IrisWave’s pre-wedding films. “Some have joked that we have brought in cameras that are too high in specification for such projects, but we believe in nothing but the best for our clients. As much as possible, the videos should reflect who our couples are. Different couples will have their own storylines, and we love to bring out each couple’s personal stories.”

For Carissa and Xavier, Alvin crafted a storyline around their shared hobby of cycling, and captured their emotional connection as they enjoyed themselves during the shoot. “One of our favourite scenes to film would be the interaction between our couples,” says Alvin. “When our couples naturally have a good time and enjoy themselves, the camera becomes invisible and the video shows emotion.”

Alvin’s friendly approach to the filming helped Carissa and Xavier relax and enjoy themselves. “Alvin helped us put our nerves aside,” Carissa shares. “We did not even find the shoot physically tiring, as Alvin was able to get quality shots within two tries. He also strives to give his best and has an extremely keen eye for angles. I would strongly recommend Alvin and his team as he is extremely professional, and humorous too! Anyone who engages him for filming would not regret his or her decision!”

For IrisWave, planning the pre-wedding shoot also involved working out the schedule of shoot locations in Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa. The hotel’s garden-inspired Galleria, a popular wedding ceremony venue with its striking design by renowned Japanese firm Super Potato, formed a beautiful backdrop for part of the shoot. Alvin also filmed in the stunning WoW – World of Whisky, which pays homage to Singapore’s architectural history with colonial white doors, and features modern, eclectic design such as kerosene lamp chandeliers, a solid teak slab bar, and plush sofas. A beautiful site for the shoot, the bar is also a unique and intimate wedding venue choice for stylish couples.

Just outside, Alvin played with the natural daylight to capture soft scenes on the alfresco patio. “Sunsets and sunrises are our favourite times,” he says. “These lend a magical touch to the videos.” Carissa and Xavier thought so too. “The shoot exceeded our expectations as the morning rain had dampened our spirits,” the couple share. “We had wanted to catch the sunrise but instead we managed to catch the sunset, which was spectacular!”

The whole shoot experience was a great one not just for Carissa and Xavier. “IrisWave was a dream to work with,” Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa tells us, explaining that Alvin and his team’s enthusiastic support and keen eye for the finer details wonderfully captured the hotel’s venue offerings during the shoot. Alvin also appreciated the hotel’s support. “Working with the hotel has been a great joy, from the planning to the actual filming; we were well taken care of by the staff, who ensured that with a phone call or message, they would be there,” he says.

Shooting at Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa was an enjoyable and fuss-free experience for Carissa and Xavier, who had a pampering staycation in the resort during the shoot. “The experience was very pleasant,” says the couple. “The hotel is beautiful, and conveniently located at Imbiah Station, within walking distance from the beaches and many other attractions in Sentosa. We got a well-furnished room facing the Merlion, and the view was fantastic. The staff were prompt in providing for our needs as well.” Besides the Merlion Suite, couples who want to indulge in a pre-wedding staycation can opt for the Onsen Suite, which features a soothing Japanese onsen-inspired hot tub in a tranquil outdoor sanctuary.
