May and Alfred’s Intimate Clifford Pier Solemnisation and Marina Bay Sands Wedding

May and Alfred handmade their wedding rings out of white gold, and exchanged their one-of-a-kind bands during a rustic elegant Clifford Pier solemnisation. To celebrate with everyone, they held an Oriental chic wedding banquet at Marina Bay Sands.

May Chan, 28, Accountant, said “Yes” to Alfred Soh, 29, Engineer over a bottle of good red wine and a breathtaking view of the Western Australia coastline. Those beautiful memories were brought back when they flew to Australia to handcraft their wedding bands out of white gold. May and Alfred presented each other with their lovingly made rings during a rustic elegant Clifford Pier solemnisation on 9 September 2016 and celebrated their union with an Oriental chic wedding banquet at Marina Bay Sands on 6 November 2016, dressed in Dang Bridal.

How did the two of you meet?

May: We met five years ago during a graduate interview assessment centre. Both of us were shortlisted candidates for a graduate management trainee position. At the end of the day, Alfred was offered the role, and I, unknowingly, snugged a future husband out of it.

Alfred: That was one lucky day, I must say.

What’s one of the things you love most about your partner?

May: His wicked sense of humor!

Alfred: Her sanity; She’s always very sensible, with a constant drive to keep learning and doing.

What was the proposal like?

Alfred: It was in Perth, Australia. Just the two of us, over a bottle of red wine which she adores, in a house overlooking the beautiful coastline of Western Australia. May truly appreciates peace, serenity, and a bottle of good wine. I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to pop the question.

Tell us about making your own wedding bands.

May: The most memorable experience in our wedding journey was handcrafting each other’s wedding bands in Australia from scratch. Yes, from a mass of white gold alloy. What could be more dreamy than handcrafting a ring for one another? Not only was it an interactive experience, the wedding rings are completely unique and made just for us, by us, each for the one we love. Of course, we are not professional jewellery designers; our wedding bands are simple, modest yet timeless, just the way we want it. To top it off, heading back to Australia, where he proposed, to create our own bands made the experience extra meaningful.

Did you have a wedding theme?

May: Rustic elegance for our solemnisation. Oriental chic for the dinner banquet. We engaged Flour as our event stylist and they took over from there. Credits to Larry and Jophia for the marvelous setup!

What was your wedding day like?

Alfred: Fast and intense, but very happy. It went by so quickly—everything pretty much only sunk in when we were on board the plane leaving for our honeymoon.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

May: Just having everyone we love with us that day was the best gift we could have. Some of our guests travelled a long way just to celebrate with us and we are extremely humbled by that.
