    Hi~~

Just want to share my experiences with u all. I had my mole removed 3 year ago. Mine is consider big, protruding and very dark colour. The mole really grow deep inside the skin and it's on my right corner of my mouth. The distance is within 1cm from my mouth lo! Peoples told me the mole look very sexy and even old folks said the mole is good one but i just dont like it lo!

On 2002, I realised my mole look like getting bigger which i getting worry cos i scared will become cancer. So i went to polyclinic to see one of the doctor, i told the doctor i found out tat my mole growing very fast and getting bigger recently. So the doctor wrote a letter referring me to SGH, J Clinic, Department of Plastic Surgery.

Think myself very lucky cos the doctor who done the surgery for me is very nice person. When i him, i told him my situation and after discuss with him, I decided remove the mole. Ohya, the doctor quite young and nice person lo! He let me know the price and ask me izzit too expensive. When i said yes, he find lowest rate one for me lo! Anyway, I refered by polyclinic so mine is under subsidied rate. So good is the surgery expenses can deduct from medisave. The surgery charges is $112/-

The doctor told me i need to do surgery to remove the mole cos mine consider big, so cannot do laser. The doctor said the mole need to cut. He gave me some cream and ask me to apply on my mole before the surgery at home. The cream got anesthetic effect lo! After apply the area will felt numb. He did told me after the surgery will left a scar on tat area, I quite worry about the scar and he gave me assurance tat he will do a very nice surgery for me, try not to let the scar so obvious..heehee! The doctor real nice hor!

My bf (now is my hubby) so funny, keep telling me dont remove the mole cos he said without the mole he like cannot get use to it. So the day before operation he keep look at my face. He said he cant imagine my face without the moles..hahaha! I did told my parents about it, they ask me y remove it but i still insist to remove it.

The surgery just like a big operation, need to remove all the jewellery and wear the patient clothes. Make me felt like I got very serious illness and need to do operation lo! Before start the surgery, the doctor inject the anesthetic near my mole, it's quite painful.. After a while my face totally numb, the doctor and the nurse quite relax thru out the surgery, chit chat, joking and ask me question, so i dont really feel so stress lo! If not wrong, the whole surgery took about 25-30 minutes. I cant felt what they doing on my face, but can felt their hand keep moving and dont know what they doing. After done the surgery, I can prepared to change back my own dress. What can i see from mirror is my mole finally gone liao, saw stitches instead of mole. That area abit swollen. I only can felt the pain after i reached home. The doctor give cream to apply and medicine to eat. And i got 3 days MC.

Few days later need to go back to see the doctor again. He did laser treatment for me, think about 2-3 times cos still got some black spot there.

The doctor quite good, he give me so cream to apply on the scar, It's FOC. Think the cream can help the scar slowly fade away so tat not so obvious. And he offer to give me MC for every visit.

Now even my old friends saw me also cant tell where is the scar and where is the mole suppose at?? they ask me at left or right side ah?? hahaha

    cclyn New Member

    Hi Noif,

Thanks for sharing your experience, glad that your scar is not obvious [IMG] Your doctor so good gave u MC on each visit. My Dr said no MC for cosmetic surgery [IMG]

    Hi Tham

Yes, you got to make appointment
    2 doctors in the clinic,
Dr Chee duty on 1,3,5 and
    Dr David Tan on 2,4 & 6
    9am-12pm & 2-6 pm

My doctor is David Tan, nice guy [IMG]

    lux New Member

    cclyn..

I think for Noif case it become life threathening and no longer for cosmestic issue thus the MC offered. Mole that grow fast have a tendency to have cancereous cells/activities because of the constant exposure to sun and such element.

Tham.. I want to see lah so make appointment liao. Likewise I am sure my parents will not be going to be happy with my decision unless I tell them I went to have the mole looked at...
  11. tham

    tham New Member

    Hi cclyn,

Thanks for ur information. So what is the clinic's full addr and contact number?

    Ling,

Ya...I know some parents will not be happy with that.

Btw, do u all agree with this. Whether it leaves an obvious scar also depends on each individual's skin type. So there is some cream which can lighten scar is it? Maybe can ask doctor for that....
  12. cclyn

    cclyn New Member

    Hi Tham

Yup, I agree whether got obvious scar depends on individual's skin type. I would say i got a very lousy skin, even a minor cut will leave scar [IMG] so after the laser, i try to eat many types of veggies & fruits which contains Vitamin C, hopefully it helps.

    The clinic :
The Medical & Rejuvenation Centre (Wen & Weng Medical Group)
    18 Cross Street #02-33
    China Square Central S(048423)
    Tel : 6532 7385

    Hi cclyn,

Thanks for ur information. Me too got lousy skin. So how is ur healing process? Still waiting for the scab to dry up?
  14. cclyn

    cclyn New Member

    Hi Tham

The scab had dried up alreadi now waiting for it to drop ;p

How's yours, any obvious scar ?
  15. tham

    tham New Member

    Hi cclyn,

Ya...mine has a scar which is noticeable to me lor...
  16. cclyn

    cclyn New Member

    Hi Tham

the scar might be noticeable to you cos you knew it, but hor.. it might not be obvious to others [IMG]

Last night, i accidentally wipe off the dried scab while washing my face, now there is a little red 'dot' on my face [IMG] can see the little mark there, hopefully it will heal.

    Hi cclyn,

Yesterday went to see my doctor again because my "scar" itches at times, rather uncomfortable, so went back to see her. But she told me that was not a scar, just some newly formed flesh, and it's common to feel itchy because it's still raw, as compared to the surrounding skin. She prescribed me some cream to apply.

Hey..u should be more careful when washing ur face, although I know not easy. When I still had my scab that time, I didn't wash my face for the first few days, just use wet tissue to wipe my whole face, avoiding the surgery site of course. Later then I wash, but also extra careful not to wash that part where the surgery was. And don't wipe, u can just pat dry.
  18. tham

    tham New Member

cclyn, but i'm sure it will heal, just that now it's without the outer layer...
  19. cclyn

    cclyn New Member

    Hi Tham

I already very careful and gentle when washing face laos but.. dun know why *haiz*. I applied the ointment which the Dr prescribed after the laser.

Dun you feel uncomfortable if you dun wash you face ? I cannot tahan leh, my face will sure become very oily.

Another new thing learned, the cause of 'itch' is because newly formed flesh and it's still raw [IMG] thanks
  20. tham

    tham New Member

    Hi cclyn,

Yes, rather uncomfortable because very oily and itchy too, but no choice leh...I used wet tissue to wipe my face few times a day. Anyway, bear with it for a few days.

    hi,
i'm new here. i'll be hving my first appt at the national skin ctr this thurs about e removal of my mole too. was referred by the polyclinic doc. am hoping to get an early appt for e procedure coz i need to get it done b4 ROM and wedding and the wound healed in 2 months. can those who have already done it advise how long it will take for the wound to heal and if the scar wil be obvious?
  22. tunapuff77

    tunapuff77 New Member

    Hi Lindy,
From my experience, it takes abt a week for t scab (dried blood clot) to drop. T area will look a bit raw for t first 2 wks. I think 2 mths should be sufficient for t scar 2 b less obvious [IMG]
  23. tham

    tham New Member

    Hi Lindy,

Have u consulted the doctor at the NSC yet? I have not done mine at the NSC so not sure how long will the wound heal, but I believe there will still be a visible scar, no matter what. Maybe it will take some time, perhaps half to 1 year, for the scar to be not so visible.
Anyway, u can always cover up the scar with makeup, as what advised by the doctor.

    Hi all,

I've been to NSC for mole removal b4 so far the scar still look ok.. As for the protuding mole tt i intend 2 remove, the doc fm NSC oso told me the same thing tt the scar will be quite long & obvious so din take it out.. Remeber him askg me if i wan to live w tt mole or tt scar on my face.. hehehe..

Definitely with the mole lah i told him & nv seen him then..

    hi Veron,
i have made the appt w NSC to remove my mole in June. my wedding is in aug so the doc said should have enuf time for the wound to heal. of coz the scar will still be there, but e nurse was telling me should be able to conceal a bit with make-up. (e rest will be the magic of digital editing!!!) my skin seems to be quite good and my wounds normally heal very nicely too. so i am praying that the same will be for my mole, coz its near my cheek so i will prob look like my face got scratched my a cat for quite a while! but my fiance doesnt mind a scar,so i gues its ok...[IMG]

    Hi Veronica,

The mole that you have removed that leave a scar still ok...is it small and flat one?
  27. glad

    glad New Member

    Hi Lindy,

The scar was nt obvious for my case.. dun worry cos wif make up & all those digital editing, sure cnt see anything including pimples, etc.. It do wonders, rite?!?![IMG]& definitely ur future hubby wun mind or else can "throw" him away [IMG] (Jus jokg)

    As for Tham,

Dun worry,k...reli nt tt obvious & if u dun say no 1 will act knw tt u remove ur mole.. I act removed 3, 1 quite big & 2 small flat ones.. [IMG]
  28. lindy_koh

    lindy_koh New Member

    Hi Veron,
i only hv one obvious mole and its a lil protruding so pple wil def noe that i removed it, but its ok..did u do laser or incision? mine wil be by incision so stitches needed, about 3 stitches. the doc freaked me out saying that it wil be very ugly but i insisted on doin it b4 wedding, although she advised to do after. after that the nurse was very reassuring saying that the scar will not be so bad...so u had to go operating theatre for yours?
  29. tham

    tham New Member

    Hi Lindy,

You very brave leh...if I were you, I won't go for it liao...since the doc also said it's gonna be very ugly. The scar will be on your face forever leh... You won't know how it's gonna heal and how will the scar look like. Once done, cannot be undone liao. I mean not trying to scare or discourage you, just my 2 cents worth anyway.
  30. lindy_koh

    lindy_koh New Member

    hi Tham,
yeah,am a lil nervous bout how it would be. the doc says it wil be very obvious. but the nurse says it would nt be that bad and can b concealed with make-up aft a few weeks..i just want to go ahead with it though. i think e doc was a little pessimistic. the nurse completely gave me e assurance.

    Veronica,
Look forward to your comments and overall experience? If u did it in an OT (operating theatre) and if its through incision..thanks!!
  31. tham

    tham New Member

    Hi Lindy,

I think the doc is just been honest with you whereas the nurse just want to make you less worried. I have seen scar photos on those scar cream before and it's rather long and obvious.

Anyway, since you have decided to go for it, all the best to you. [IMG]
  32. cclyn

    cclyn New Member

    Hi Lindy

I believe the doc want you to prepare just in case the scar turn out to be ugly. May be the nurse was right, would not be bad and can be concealed with make up [IMG] all the best !

    Hi Tham

My scars had heal, the one near my nose was noticeable but not obvious, but the one on my face seems to turn into be a flat mole leh (altho there was no scar at all), *sigh* dun know why ????leh, i wonder whether is it becocs i eat black sauce during the healing period *haiz* will want to go back to see doc if it still remains ... 35. lindy_koh

    lindy_koh New Member

    Hi Happi,
be prepared to pay bout $200-$300 as it is considered cosmetic surgery. go see the doc for a consultation. There is a long waiting queue, my surgery is not until june!

    Hey Tham,
    So u removed by laser?
  36. tham

    tham New Member

    Hi all,

I don't know what method my doc used but definitely not excision.

Presently, there is a light brown colour dot on the location, just like a pimple lor. I think it's still a mole...maybe a flat one but now it's brownish in colour rather than black. I would say still noticeble at short distance but at least not as obvious as previously with a black protruding mole there.

Maybe that is the best results I can get, unless I remove by excision. Cclyn, I believe it's the same case as u right? I think no point going back to the doc lah..they will only tell u that is the best results, if you want to remove completely, do it by excision which will leave an ugly scar etc. But anyway, perhaps u can try and see what they have to say.
  37. tham

    tham New Member

Cclyn, btw do ur healed locations feel itchy? For me, yes occasionally...
  38. lindy_koh

    lindy_koh New Member

    hi tham,
i'm doin incision so the whole mole wil be removed completely.it wil leave scar but its more thorough..i rather get it done once for all since already doing it.=P
  39. cclyn

    cclyn New Member

    Tham,
i dun feel itchy at the healed area. Your's is a light brown colour dot like pimple but mine is black just like a flat mole, will go back to doc to check.
  40. tham

    tham New Member

Lindy, I guess u would rather have a scar than a mole?

Cclyn, I think the doc didn't do a complete removal for u..ya think u should go back to remove some more, but don't know whether you can do it foc?
  41. lindy_koh

    lindy_koh New Member

    Hi Tham,
yeah, coz am thinkin a scar can stil heal over time, but a mole can only get bigger over time.so i dun wana risk it. rather have it removed nw that i'm young.mum and sis was pretty upset bout it coz they tot it looks nice, but i told them for health reasons, so they understood.and my skin has always healed very well, so praying it wil be e case with the surgery!

    Cclyn,
yah, i think e doc only "shave" e mole leaving whatever is beneath the skin intact.i think u can do laser to remove the remaining. good to consult a skin specialist.

    Hey Veronica,
stil hoping to hear from you!

    Hi Lindy

Mine was done by laser and the doc told me that he had removed all leh, if not remove totally then how come it grows so fast [IMG] and the one near my nose dun seems to grow back at all *Sigh* Will observe for another few weeks hopefully the 'flat mole' will fade off eventually.

    Ling,

My mole was about 0.5cm then. You forgot liao huh??!! Hehehe... Btw, how's urs going on? Still haven't got someone to see your mole yet?

I would say though there is still something there, but at least better than previously a big, black and protruding mole lor. It definitely boosts my confidence level to some extent. I just hope that it won't grow back again, to something big and black. *Touch wood*
