Buying Diamond Ring

My ring itself is also customised.. that why I like jannpaul

Wah poor thing leh!

Yahh, luckily the solasfera isn't alot more expensive than the round brilliance one he initially chosen so he's ok..

Designer brands aside, actually many places offer customisation for rings.. MichaelTrio, Fairies Inc, Canary Diamond, Venus Tears, and such. Is JannPaul pricing the cheapest amongst?

I can tell the difference for the Solasfera leh. :D
They got show me outside the shop under the sun.. it's very obvious when its outside.

I like the 10 hearts under the scope.. looks very cute.. :p

Am also looking to customise my ring. More personalized I feel.

Hahah that's good.. I could tell the difference btw D, E and F. But solasfera and the round brilliance under normal sunlight, I cannot differentiate too :( Is that called brilliance-blind, lol.

Anyway, I'm thinking of giving my fiancé an "engagement ring" too. Any suggestions? Or is it weird for guys to wear two rings (engagement and weddin band)?

What is Solasfera? pardon me. i m totally new to diamonds.

just like soo kee has 'brillant rose', lee hwa has 'forever mark' and etc. solasfera is a brand/title for a certain type of round diamonds that has more facets and claims to have a higher-end method of cutting the facets to allow more brillance of the diamond.

haha.. Honesty, if you ask me, if given a choice I will not even wear the wedding band in the future, not to mention the engagement ring. Just my personal opinion :p

Congrats Happy Guy, my husband bought my ring at Lee Hwa also. You can enjoy their free cleaning services whenever you pass by their shop. Price varies a lot depening on Color, cut, clarity. A D color can cost at least two to three times more compared to a lower color grade. D color is so call investment grade and less in circulation. So depending what you want. My husband gives me his budget and let me choose how I want it. So I picked a better grade. If is ear rings, I would have picked lower grade as cant really be seen on your ears.

haha why!
my fiancé likes wearing rings thou, and always "complaining" that I have a nice diamond ring whereas he doesn't get any engagement rings.. so I thought of "proposing" to him with one too, but without solitaire la.. cos that will be tooooo feminine.

I m provided with:
2 free resizing
2 free polishing/replating
1 engraving

For cleaning of ring, they told me I can do it myself. Just using a toothbrush and some soap will do.

Thanks for recommendations guys! I went to JP and looked through all the different diamonds.. We chose the Octagon diamond. Their service is very good and we learnt alot of things from them. Lionel served us. He was very friendly and not pushy. They advised me to choose some designs to bring our the octagon shape. I can't really visualize it the diamond on the ring but they said they will send me a 3D picture of my whole ring first before I confirm the design with them and still can make changes.

I got my diamond scope images. They had an explanation for each of scope. Can't remember all of it
They are all ok right?

I also placed a deposit for the octagon shaped diamond from them recently. Love it :p

Asking for opinion here.

Is 4 or 6 claws better? 6 claws more secure?
and how it affect the appearance?
4 or 6 claws will only affect how the whole ring will look. I am told by my jewelers that the security for 4 and 6 claws is similar as 4 prongs the has thicker prongs and 6 prongs have more prongs (duhz~~:p)
Some of the 4 prongs will actually make the ring looks abit squarish.

So not one is better than the other, its dependent on what design you prefer.;)

My ring is from Jannpaul and i've to say it's beautiful! When you put it together with other brand rings you can clearly see the difference.
& the amount of detail they put into the ring is just amazing! :)
I agree with you.
I placed a deposit for their diamond recently. (Previously bought from Soo Kee, but now wish to "upgrade" my diamond)
I can say that the diamond from JP is a lot more brighter than my old one.

I have taken a pic for the comparison of my new diamond and my "old diamond"

(**Sorry for the very big pic.. don't know how to make it smaller)

Congrats on upgrading.. ;) Is there a difference in the cut and clarity between the 2 diamonds?

My old ring is from Soo Kee Ideal Cut if I am not wrong, that is my proposal ring from my then-boyfriend (now hubby :D), and the new one is from JP Octagon cut. Clarity wise, cant remember VS1 or VS2.

Like the clear arrows of the diamonds. Do share your ring design with us.

Pretty!!
My colleague just bought in a similar design! He showed us a photo similar to your ring, but told us that he amended the band to be plain instead, without the row of small diamonds. Not sure how his will turn out eventually, but ur design looks lovely :)
Thanks!! Am still considering if I should go ahead with this design. *fickle-minded me* ;)

Thanks all for your feedback.:)
My bf and I have been to many shops to see see look look.
And all the diamonds look so bling!!! Even those cutting which is only "Very Good" looks great too and the pricing are attractive too.

Why I see people always go for excellent cutting? Really got different?

Haha, is it because of the lighting in the jewellery store too?
It all depends on whether the couple can tell the difference and their personal preferences.. To me, cut and color matter alot. Was shown some cuts that are not so ideal, imo the diamonds appear like crystals under natural light.. :/ But if one can't tell the difference, or feels that the difference is negligible, then save the money for other stuff :p

Ohh, lighting will affect the appearance? pardon me.. still at the initial stage of diamond search.
But then the question is, how to tell from other lighting? They can't possibly lend me their diamond to bring outside their shop. :p
