I have tried the food at Jiang Nan Chun too, it is quite good! Though I did not shortlist this hotel at the end due to budget constraints but I must say thumbs up to the food.

Hi eiko, yah their ballrooms really beautiful. However their payment is by progressive payment. I may have difficulty on that due to budget constrain. I am trying to work things out. :))

Progressive payment means you pay everything before the big day? I think Grand Hyatt has that option too. It's good to max out the credit card though.

From what I understand, progressive payment means u must pay the amt progressively for min. 20 tables with the cheapest menu for wedding lunch one week before wedding, then on the day of wedding u pay the rest. The rest will include additional tables, upgrade of menu, additional charges etc.

Hi eiko,
I am not sure how it goes.. I think it's you pay a certain percentage, first &5k deposit then another 25 percent in 6 months time and then another 20 percent in 1 month time and then another 20 percent again (not sure when) of the whole banquet. Lol.. I think before my wedding, I will be very much broke liao.. ;D

Hi Tequlia,
Is the suite spacious? We didn't get to see the suite when we went down for the discussion. They have projector not LCD screen? :(

Hi Sher1234,
We felt that the suite was quite spacious for our needs. There is a living room area and then the bedroom area that is separated by a door. I guess how you find it will be dependent on how many people you are planning on having in the room - i.e. whether your sisters are going to be with you in the room during the preparations.

As for the projector versus LCD screen, are you referring to the ballroom?

Hi Shavine,
Thanks for the info. I am thinking of having a tea ceremony in my bridal suite, around 20 people. Yah, I mean in the ballroom..
Thanks.

Hi Sher1234

There is probably not enough space for 20 people to be in the room. Did your coordinator offer you the reception area in front of the ballroom for the tea ceremony? Because I know that can be arranged.

I did not have a problem with a projector screen. The images are sharp and having a projector screen allowed for a larger viewing area than an LCD screen would. If you are taking the bigger ballroom, I have had feedback that people thought that the screens were placed in a good position, and viewable from either side of the ballroom, such that guests did not have to turn their heads around awkwardly to view the photos/videos.

Hi Shavine,
Thanks for the info of the bridal suite. Yes, we were offered the reception area for solemnization and tea ceremony. But my SO wanted it to be a bit private, having it in the room for tea ceremony. I am only taking the smaller ballroom, crescent ballroom. :)) I think the projector is at the back of the ballroom.. I am glad that the image is sharp. Yah LCD screen is smaller.. stupid me.. Lol.. :)

No problem. Perhaps for the tea ceremony, see whether they can place screens for you in the reception area? The reception area of the crescent ballroom is larger (I feel) than the bigger ballroom, so I think there should not be a problem to screen off a part of it just for the tea ceremony. If you are concerned about the projector, why not ask your coordinator to let you know when another wedding is being set up, then you can go and see them test it out? We did that for the table setup - went down on different occasions to see what the different colour choices looked like when set up in the room. They are usually quite flexible about it.

Hey Sher1234, don't think it that way. We signed up with FS last year and will be having our lunch banquet in 2.5 weeks' time. Oh how excited!! We've been paying almost every month since then to max out our credit cards' rebates. Quite worth it since some cards have a cap on the rebate per month/quarter. Todate, we have paid nearly $30K but we do not feel the pinch. Instead we are looking forward to collect our red packets as bonus and voila a lumpsum of funds coming in back. Haha.

Has anyone just did their wedding banquets at FSH? Can share if the food for the deluxe menu are as good as the Jiang nan chun's?

My wedding banquet will be held next year but my coordinator told us that the food in Chinese menu will be prepared by the chefs from Jiang Nan Chun. Hopefully that answers your qn :)

When you do your food tasting, it will be at Jiang Nan Chun, and the chef will come out to talk to you. We also made modifications to the menu, as we didn't like some of the dishes. Like we had salted egg yolk prawns instead of prawn balls that was originally listed. We had 26 tables, and heard a lot of raves and did not hear a single complaint from our guests. So, I think the food was good. :)

Thanks Shavaine! Can share which menu did you choose? I'm afraid that I will not like the menu we selected for food tasting..

I went with the deluxe menu, but I changed some stuff, like the dessert was yam paste instead of mango sago (that many people liked), the wasabi prawns became salted egg yolk prawn (that the chef prepared a small portion for us to try on the spot during the food tasting after our feedback), and changed the seasonal vegetables in the jiang nan chun sauce to asparagus (because the spinach was a bit bitter), and the chicken with miso - we had the miso served separately and added in prawn crackers. All these at no extra cost. Of course, they were pretty honest about telling us when what we are asking for would actually incur extra cost and the chef was very helpful in giving suggestions that allowed us to avoid that.

We also did a tasting for 1 portion of the vegetarian menu, as we had quite a few vegetarian guests, and made changes to that menu as well.

Overall, I was very impressed with their service and how accommodating they were, because we were really very picky at the food tasting.

Hi all, I'm heading down to four seasons to discuss the wedding packages for 2015 year end. Any idea if their corkage fee is negotiable? $50 per bottle as stated on the package is very steep!!!

Hi! I don't think it's negotiable. If I rem correctly there's 50% off corkage if you bring your own bottle or you can choose to buy extra house wine directly from the hotel.
Thank you! I eventually signed with Four Seasons but they are really quite rigid. The only thing I do not like is having to pay for the license for songs

Paying for the licences is not controlled by the hotel but by the authorities. On my AD recently, we were not asked to furnish any evidence of licence. Anyway, my VG covered all the necessary licences for us.

I haven't thought of what to do yet but probably not getting a VG. Too many things to think about! And the planning goes on and goes..

ah i don't mind that for the solemnization. Better than having to pay to rent a room. Thanks :) Like you, I'm not thinking much about the AD yet. Gotta settle on the shoot etc first.

Hi! Some reviews on Four Seasons hotel. I have not signed up with Four Seasons due to the inflexibility, however I am very pleased with what I saw and the service rendered.

You will feel very welcomed at Four Seasons as the staffs greet you regardless of which part of the hotel you are at.

They have 2 gorgeous ballrooms. The smaller one can accommodate 12-15 tables and the larger one have a minimum of 20 tables for weekend. Both are high ceilings and very pretty, especially the smaller one which has nice chandeliers. In addition, what strike me was the beautiful red roses that were set up for the next day's banquet. They have an in-house florist and they have quite a number of flower decorations around the place. Their rooms were also very welcoming and large.

<3 Yea! Guess she told you the same phrase "10 years no showcase" :p She's a darling, very nice person. The guest rooms were super duper awesome!!

Well, just get something you are comfortable with, pay now pay later, in the end you still gotta pay.. think it was 8k right for deposit, I can't really rmb the details. But some hotels charge by % which is even worse (like GWP hehe).

Hi there! I'm a new bride to be cuz I recently got engaged with my fiance. We are looking at getting married in 2016 and four seasons hotel is our top choice!

They recently sent me their package. For Sundays dinner, it has increased to $1468 per table (min 25 tables) before gst compared to $1368 for 2014/2015 deluxe menu. It is a bit out of our budget but we really love the place so much!!!

Would appreciate some of your help with the package!

1. What are the items that can be negotiated? (price per table, minimum table, waiver of corkage, extra barrel of beer etc...) Is it possible to get the 2014/2015 price?

2. Can any kind soul send me their confirmed package so we can have a reference of what to be negotiated?

My email is [email protected].

Thank you ! :)

Hi! We really loved Four Seasons alot too! It was our top choice as we really love their smaller ballroom (12 - 15 tables). It was just nice for us, we were afraid that there won't be enough tables, so in the end we went ahead with another venue :( I heard that they are very strict on their perks and they have no wedding shows so I guess there won't be much room for negotiation. I wanted to sign up with them before their new prices came out and was told that I had to top up the differences instead of a fix amount (usually hotels just ask you to pay a fix $50 or $70 regardless of the final price that they increase - which might be $100).

If you can't hit the minimum number of tables, you would have to hit the minimum total table spendings. For e.g. if the ballroom calls for 20 tables, each at $1500, total spendings have to be 20 * 1500 = 30,000. So you can have 15 tables but the total spendings got to hit 30,000.

Really excited for you and have fun hotel shopping! It's the best experience you can get - without all the hard selling tactics from bridal shops :p
The most important thing to keep in mind is to keep within your budget :) Spendings for your house should be a higher priority

Hi my fiance and I are looking at jiang nan chun (four seasons) and cherry garden (mandarin oriental).

The food in both seem good but cherry garden seem to have more.reviews than jnc, so we are a bit concerned and not sure which hotel to go for. Mandarin oriental is more flexible and willing to clinch a deal with us compared to jnc as jnc seem quite rigid..

How is the food at four seasons? Any bride.attended any weddings there or had your food tasting done? Which dishes are nice? Would appreciate any feedback :)
