Hi,

Anyone has their solemnisation at CVH or going to have their solemnisation there, care to share experience?

I am having mine there on 09 Sep 2009 and so far, have met with quite a fair bit of restrictions etc which can be quite frustrating.

Hope you all can share your experience/story with me. =)

dear all, i had my solemnisation there & it was a wonderful experience.. i held mine at saltwater cafe instead of getting a function room. if u wanna cut costs, can consider doing it there as well. they will 'section' off an area for you at the restaurant, and food will be from the buffet spread that's opened to the public too.. i had mine on a sat, and thou there were other members of the public, the crowd was still considered small.. we had our lunch the moment it started.. we were really thankful we chose changi village hotel as the place for our solemnisation..

tommy,
I am doing my ROM at their level 8 poolside. First of all, they do not provide projector nor the white screen (even though I said I will bring my own projector if they cannot provide at all). They do not provide setup for wedding band - if you wanted to rent their microphones, it's S$100 each. Max capacity is 50 pax and they refused to even add in another pax per table. They do not provide shuttle bus even though they are quite 'ulu'. All the wedding coordinator did was to send me the contact for their hotel's bus company and asked me to make my own arrangements.

These are some of my personal experience.

Just wanna share my experience with Changi Village Hotel. My HTB and I were sourcing for an outdoor/poolside venue for our solemnisation and had shortlisted CVH as one of the potential venues. However, we were pretty upset and frustrated with their "heck-care" attitude and poor service.

First of all, the catering manager was 45 minutes late into our appointment. We had thought that he would be punctual as he had called a couple of hours earlier to confirm the appointment. This left a bad impression as we felt that he could have at least called to inform us that he would be late. Being late for 15 minutes is still acceptable to us, but for 45 minutes? That's ridiculous and utterly unprofessional. Worse still, he did not even apologize when he finally arrived.

Throughout the discussion, he seemed uninterested and when we tried to find out more information, he brushed us off with a curt "No" or "Cannot be done" and did not offer any solution or alternative. We were made to feel as though we were taking up his precious time and were practically rushed through the on-site inspection. And before we knew it, the whole thing was over. We only managed to visit the infinity pool on level 8 and a quick glimpse of the function room. We wanted to have a look at The Creek (the pool outside Saltwater Cafe) too, when we felt that the infinity pool was too small for our solemnization (we are going to host about 50 pax), but when we enquired about it, the manager just said it was "not recommended" as the cafe is open to the public, and was reluctant to bring us there. So that brought us to the end of the appointment. We were a bit disappointed, to tell the truth, but in the end, we managed to explore The Creek all by ourselves when we decided to have our dinner at the Saltwater Cafe. Though a little upset with the service at CVH, we decided to use The Creek for our solemnisation as I really liked the place and felt it fits the theme I had in mind.

The days following the appointment, we tried to find out more information regarding having our solemnization at The Creek. However replies to our enquiries were slow and not forthcoming. We were tired and frustrated of having to chase after CVH for their replies and decided to arrange for an appointment to go down for a another round of discussion, to settle things once and for all.

Imagine our frustration when we were told that no one will entertain (yes, that's the word they used) us on weekends as they only work 5 days a week. Being busy executives, my HTB and I are not available on weekdays, and I believe that we are not the only couple with such schedules. Anyway, we tried to compromise by making an appointment on weekdays, but after office hours. Guess what? We were told that they cannot wait for us as they knock off at 6pm sharp!

Well, we can understand if they don't work on public holidays and Sundays or if they are busy with other events, but what we can't stand was their attitude when they told us this; it was almost like telling us "If you want to see us, you've got to make your appointment at our convenience!" After a lengthy discussion over the phone, they finally told us that if we really had to meet them on a weekend, we'll have to wait till they have an event then. And the next event would be 1.5 months later!

We felt that we were not valued as potential customers and hated the way we were treated. Since the first appointment, we already knew that the service was very bad, but because I liked The Creek so much, my HTB and I were prepared to take over the entire coordination for the wedding if worse comes to worst. However, this was the last straw, and we could not take it anymore. After much deliberation, we decided to bring our business elsewhere, though at times when I look at the pictures of The Creek I still wished we could have our solemnisation there.

Sorry for the long post; I just wanted to share our experiences as well as use this as a platform to vent my frustrations about CVH. We wanted to send a feedback/complaint to them but there was no email address provided on their website. When I called their customer service hotline, they referred us to use the online form but there's a limit to the number of words we can type!

Anyway, I just want to point out that the above is my personal experience, and I understand that every hotel has it's fair share of good and bad reviews.

Hi bibibabibu,
Is your coordinator Dan Touw?

They have a new coordinator named Talisa who seems nice and prompt. Our previous coordinator was Candy and initially I was pissed off with her heck care attitude too but after I talked to her about it, she became very prompt and helpful.

One thing I realised about CVH's policy in general, they don't try to please the customers and the customers are the ones who have to find their own solutions most of the time (like my outdoor projector and sound system problem). But coz I really don't care about the projector, I decided to do without it while for sound system, my wedding band is helping me source for it (God knows how much extras that will cost me).

But coz I love the Level 8's view too much (max capacity is 90, by the way), I decided to bear with all the inconveniences and try to make it work. Wish me luck!

Hi Elyse,

Ya, it is Dan Towe - he's the catering manager at CVH. We've met Talisa too, during the appointment. In fact, she was our very first point of contact when we approached CVH with our enquiries. Agree with you that Talisa is a very nice and helpful person, but it seems like she was "on training" and was unable to answer most of our enquiries without consulting Dan first.

After the appointment, we didn't want to liaise with Dan cuz of his attitude so we continued to direct all our mails to Talisa. But when she stopped replying totally we thought she had left CVH already... Anyway, we called CVH up and tried to get someone else other than Dan to liaise with us. We managed to get this lady called Alice who seems quite nice also. But too bad, Dan remained in charge of our account and the whole process dingdong-ed here and there; when we emailed or called Alice about our enquiries she had to check with Dan before getting back to us and the replies were not very clarifying either. Haiz...

Just to side-track a bit... The maximum capacity for the infinity pool is 90?! Is it standing arrangement? Cuz Dan told us, for our event they can only accomodate abt 4 tables, and the place did look a bit too small for our guests to move around freely (think cuz many of them are also quite big sized... Haha).

Anyway, glad that you are happy with CVH so far. If you don't mind, do share your pictures here after the event, ya! Hehe... Am sure the pictures will turn out great. Hope everything goes smoothly with your wedding preparations! =)

Bibibabibu,
So it is just recently when you went to CVH? Coz Talisa just joined recently, replacing my previous coordinator. Never heard of Alice though, also new?

My previous coordinator told me that the maximum capacity for Level 8 is 50. Then when I checked again with Talisa, she said 90 if we take away the theatre seatings in front of the solemnisation table and replace those with round tables (can put 4). Nope, not seating arrangement.

I was pissed with Dan before too. We were supposed to go view the sites and he was supposed to show us around (coz my coordinator was on leave) but I was stuck at somewhere else and couldn't make it. Worst thing was, I forgot to save their phone no in my hp and couldn't call him. But he never called me, not once. It was until I got home a few hours later that I found his no and called and he had totally forgot about it and when I tried to arrange to go later he just brushed me off. I purposely took leave so as to view the site some more! Grrrr....

Ya.... I went there early to mid March.

So for your event, Talisa will be the one in charge? I guess it should be easier to liaise with her, at least she seems more accomodating and willing to help. Even though we expressed our unhappiness with Dan and wanted to change our coordinator, CVH still assigned him to be in charge of our account. As for Alice, I'm not sure if she's new.

Think CVH should clean up their act and stop expecting customers to arrange their schedules around their staff's convenience.

Hihi,

I had the same experience with Dan too.. the heckcare attitude, late or even no replies when i enquired about certain stuffs and in the end, i requested for a change of wedding planner...
I was reassigned to Candy and she's good.. but unfortunately she left.

ya, they leave on the dot as well and do not 'entertain' you during weekends unless there is any event going on.

ya... it was so frustrating. To think that they are in the service industry, yet they are not customer-oriented at all...

Hi all,

I had my ROM held in Changi Village hotel outdoor. It is supposed to be a happy occassion but there are a couple of major things that messed up on that day that made the day a really unhappy one. The main problem is the manager, he is hardly contactable and did not fulfil what he promised us. So when you guys communicate if them, remember to go black and out and ensure that they remembered what they promised.

Hi all,
I am actually quite surprised when I read all the complaints about Dan. Just the other day I spoke to my hubby about how prompt and fast Dan was with replies and he was really helpful. My experiences with him since last year after we signed our package have been really great and my last email communication with him was replied within 10 minutes. (But that was in early May.)

Hi all,
I was just in contact with Dan again, and I must say he is very prompt and helpful in his replies. Talisa is his assistant and she's really great too. Just in case anyone gets a bad impression from the negative feedbacks, I would like to say that thus far I'm very happy with their service.

I feel sometimes people's mood can go way down due to circumstances and though it may not be professional from our perspective but for all we know, the staff could have had a bad day, maybe from a nasty and demanding customer and it affects them for the rest of the day(s). Give them another chance. They might make things right the next time you see them. ;)

Hello! I'm a bride-to-be in 2010, and CVH is actually one of which that I've in my mind. (Another one is Park Royal Hotel)

I've emailed Talisa, and here's what she has provided me with:

$79.56 (after 10% service charge and 7% GST) per pax

I'm asking for poolside, but after reading through, I realised there are actually 2 poolsides? One of which is The Creek, and the other at Level 8? please correct me if I'm wrong. (Which one is it better? Then maybe I can email Talisa to ask for both quotations. Thanks in advance!!)

Signature pens, ring pillow, decorations, sound systems are provided at no extra cost.

Also throwing in 1 Night at Premier Room, Breakfast for 2 at sea-something (can't remember :p) Cafe, 35% of my guests have complimentary parking and 1 VIP parking.

Are there anything else I should ask from them? I'd like to see their pictures too! Googled, but doesn't seem to be very convincing. :p

Hopefully I don't get sloppy deco!

Hi thesupergirl,

yes, there are two poolsides both outdoor. One is at level one named The Creek and one at level 8 named The Infinity if not wrong.

Hi,

Just sharing my experience re CVH. A friend insisted I checked it out because of the fabulous poolside view in February. The view was truly amazing but apparently they do not stop hotel guests from accessing the pool during your event. Therefore, possiblility of half naked men lounging by the poolside while you are getting solemnised is a real possibility.

I originaly spoke with Candy and am glad to hear she has since left. Poor manners and poor service. As I put in a complaint about her, her manager made her ring me back however, as I had no wish to deal with her further, Dan contacted me instead. He was very polite but he kept saying "thousand apologies", nearly every second sentence which kinda made him sound patronising. In my search for the perfect ROM venue, CVH as a whole has been quite disappointing considering their 'ulu' location, however if the view is the most important thing and you have the time and effort to work with them, it might just be worth it. Good luck!

I will be holding my ROM ceremony in Feb 2011 at Changi Village rooftop poolside...so far the service from the coordinator, Carrie, has been good.

We signed up during their promotional period and got an extra anniversary night stay and $188 nett off the total bill.

The view at the rooftop is really nice, but I am not sure how the weather will be like. I am taking a risk and holding it from 3pm - 5pm and hope it won't be too warm...or worse, rain.

I just had my ROM last week and it was great! Thankfully the weather was good...it's really windy at the rooftop. Pictures turned out nice too.CVH is a good place for ROM!
