Hi there,

Here's the cost break down for my Indian wedding. Minimalistic approach.

1) South Bridge Rd Mariamman Temple - $2455 + $1000 deposit
includes rent of tables, chairs and tentage

2) Siva Ganesh Services for Deco - $3000
Highly recommended for traditional deco. Very efficient and professional.

3) Komalas for Food - $5550 for 500 pax
Got good feedback on food on the day of the wedding

4) Invitation - $260 for 250 cards
Parvathi Printers, Malaysia. Had bad experience with blank cards and no answering of calls.

5) Malini Michelle for Make-up - $550 + $80 for trial
Good service. Professionally done. I have very oily skin but my make-up lasted for 8 hours. Whoohoo....
Had a disaster experience with Susie House of Beauty. Stay away from aunties who claim they can do make-up. Lol!

6) 10eyeGallery Photography - $1880 for photography only
See youtube video posted a couple of threads above. Very highly recommended.

7) Check out parisphotosg.com for Car Rental - $570 for 6 hours, BMW 523
One of the most affordable car rental deals you can get. You are expected to tip the driver. Make sure you have someone in the car who knows Singapore roads. We got an amateur driver who was lost without his gps.

Please use my quote as a guide only. I have benefited from this forum during my planning and so for the first time in my life I am writing in a forum hoping that my experience will be useful for all future brides and grooms. Best of luck! :)

Sen_Pooh: I have attended many weddings at Holiday Inn. The place is beautiful and when decorated it looks grand.
I can imagine your stress level (*I think the stress comes from the fact that I have to lose weight!). My wedding is on 19 Oct (145 days away to be exact). I will be having my traditional and reception all on the same day at one place. I will be having it at Serangoon Garden Country Club. The traditional ceremony (*which includes the fire) will only take an hour and we will have the reception after that. I am afraid that my itinerary sounds super ambitious...

Hi Everyone,

Any JPs/Solemnizers to recommend? Preferably easygoing and able to make the ceremony meaningful. Thanks in advance :)

Hi Ladies!!

We are planning to have the traditional wedding in Dec 2015 but i am so lost on where to start and how much budget to estimate.
We would like to have the wedding in venues such as country clubs or hotels?
As we are looking to have both the customary and reception as 1.
As far as i know, not all hotels allow traditional marriage.
Can you guys let me know which hotels allows traditional marriages & other venues?

Hello ladies!
I'm new to this forum and hoping I can get some advice/ help. I plan to have a wedding in September in Bali! We want to fly down a priest from Singapore. Can somebody recommend a priest in Singapore who can also explain the ceremony in English as my fiance is not Indian. We have had a terrible experience of meeting with one priest in Bali who sounded very commercial, arrogant and greedy. I am hoping to find a good genuine priest in Singapore.
Many thanks!!

Hi everyone..

BTB next year too. We were looking for dates from July however due to the lack of auspicious dates it will be delayed till Oct/Nov. tried looking for temple weddings but there are all fully booked with very limited choices. Tank Road temple apparently has 100 people on their wait list. Sooooo long story short came across at SGCC and loved the place! Will be booking it soon. If you guys have attended any wedding there, pls do share feedback!

Hi Gaya-3,

You can visit serangoon garden country club. Very reasonable price and package includes invitations, deco, food and even some trad items required for the wedding. Go check out the ballroom when you have the chance..They do allow the fire pot to be present as well but stage IMO is a little small.

I know Ritz Carlton, Fairmount Singapore also allows it. You can do the trad wedding and have a reception right after as well at these places. How many guest do you expect and what is your budget?

Hi everyone! I'm vani a newbie in this chat. My ROM is in Mar 15 and traditional Dec 15. Read a lot of tips and contacts list fr this forum. So panic mode has started as I m only starting on the plans now.

First searching for MUAs and Photographers.
For MUA, I m not a person who does make up much so to have a those full on bridal makeup will be a no no lol! Nd a MUA who does very natural makeup.
Though I luv the works for Malini, Ananthy etc.. still find the makeup too heavy for a person like me. Oh m I being too choosy?

Hey Vanitha, i can only suggest that you shortlist the MUA you are keen in and get a trial make up done. That will be the only way you can determine if the MUA does justice to your face. If you wana keep it simple with the make up be sure to highlight this to the MUA.

I have yet to do trial for my wedding in April 2015 :/ i have seen andy razali's make up it isnt too much and he is fantastic with hair too..but not sure if he can tie sari etc if you need traditional attire.

Hi BTBs!

Fiance and I are planning for a late 2015 wedding (oct/nov/early dec) and are currently looking at auspicious dates. We have just started planning!!Unfortunately, it looks like the 2 temples we were looking to book are already booked solid til March 2016 (Perumal and South Bridge Mariamman).. does anyone know if there are available dates in other temples? Yishun Mariamman is our third option.

If we can't get these 2/3 temples, then we are looking to do our temple wedding in an outside location - i have read the thread and i see that SGCC and OCC are 2 options, alongside Sheraton, Ritz, Fairmont hotels. Chevrons too. Do you guys know any other options? I'm not a big fan of the spaces at Khalsa and CSC etc as they are quite cramped.

Any ideas on how to manage the traditional portion with the reception? I was thinking of having theatre seating (rows of chairs) for the traditional wedding in a smaller ballroom or smaller partition of the room, and then have the reception/buffet/food in the larger portion of the room with round tables so that the eating/food service does not disrupt the wedding proceedings. Do not want non-veg food in the traditional atmosphere as well - separating both will be easier to serve non-veg? Also the wedding hall tends to be quite "empty" cuz people come late for the muhurtham and leave early to eat.. so might as well make it a cosy ceremony with the near and dear, and have the rest for the reception after

Appreciate all ideas and plans and tips ladies! Good luck with all your planning!!

- Brin

Hi Komathi ! maybe you can started with photographers/videographers after picking your wedding location ? After which you can pick out your MUA and then look for Deco. It is important for you to go for trials prior.

Just want to share that getting a MUA to handle all your events is way cheaper than engaging different MUAs for different events. Have you guys decided on your guest list?

Hi Ladies,

I'm new to the forum, I'm getting married August 15 2015 at Serangoon Gardens Country Club. I'm planning to have my customary/hindu wedding, ROM and dinner all in one night. My husband-to-be is American and his parents are religious Christians so I'd like to keep the customary wedding short and sweet and hopefully modified to have some explanations in English or have a running translation (just FYI there will be a 2nd wedding in US done in American/Christian style, to respect both sides' traditions).

For other brides who had such weddings or have upcoming weddings at SGCC, can I have an idea of what the AD program is like? Can the hindu ceremony only start after sunset (7pm)? Any recommendations for hindu priests (fluent in English would be a HUGE plus) and ROM JPs? Thanks so much!

Hi Ashie! We're on the same boat :D My future S/O is American, so we'll be having a church wedding in the US. But to appease my dad, we're doing an intimate ROM dinner (for 30-40 guests) in March 2015, and a traditional hindu wedding in 2016. I was considering Grassroots Club, but I doubt they'll allow a small fire, so probably SGCC, too. I hope you manage to find a bilingual priest!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and I'm so glad I came upon this after trawling the internet for a bit. Because this ROM is a small affair, I don't want to splurge too much; we're holding both church wedding in the US, and a hindu wedding back in Singapore in 2016. So I'm saving for that instead >.<" (already sweating thinking about the costs...) But now, I'm lost at where I can hold a small dinner like that without blowing a hole in my bank!

Has anyone held their ROM at Orchid Country Club's Gayatri Restaurant? I'm hoping someone can advise me if that is a good idea - since we're not looking for pomp right now. I also contacted Pandora, and they actually have some event halls/function rooms, too. So I hope I'll be able to settle the venue and deco at least. I'm freaking out a bit since it's in March and I haven't nailed down anything - I initially booked the venue at ROM itself (very smart, LOL) Now I'm scrambling to change that, since Gayatri's said they provide a simple desk for the Solemnization bit, and I thought...why not. I guess my other question/worry now is what do I wear. Is there such a thing as lengha rental at all? I still love the hindu culture, and hope I won't have to resort to a ROM dress. Does anyone know if there are places like that? I'll appreciate any bit of advise or help! Thank you so much :p

Hi, u May check out Studio A. I think they are getting popular now.

Also, a piece of advice...if u r doing ur pre wed w JB bridal do Try to avoid Venus. Half the Indian community I know are doing there. No doubt their gowns and works are nice. But u will see a similarity With the indoor shoot locations, posings and gowns when compared w other brides who did there as well. Try to go for a less commonly patronized BS :)

Hello! I guess lengha. How abt you? Planning to purchase or rent?
Are there lengha rental shops here? I'm thinking of buying from Jinders. The ladies in my family love Jinders' collections and they seem more affordable than Stylemart.

Or I will Try to see if I can make a trip to India for the wedding shopping. Guess It's cheaper and nicer there. U have anything on mind? :)
