@Cherry_Ant maybe u would wan to email and feedback to them. don't think a refund is possible though.
maybe u can email to their main email and get a higher authority to look into matter. usually this helps.
when is ur AD? I know for banquet managers, their turnover rate quite high..

Hi Livia, who is the person attending to you? The perks are quite standard. But you can try to squeeze the person. I don't really recommend my coordinator who is so stingy with my perks.

My coordinator is also Samuel. My AD is coming soon and I have not heard from him. Before signing the contract, I asked for some perks but was refused straight. I went to pop by during one of the weddings he was supposedly in charge. The hotel staff and wedding couple helpers were all looking for him and he is no where to be found and all was in a mess. I hope my AD wont't turn out like this.:(
My hubby mentioned there is another guy you can look for.(forgot the name though).Maybe you can look for him.

Hi Cherry_Ant, our initial coordinator left and was replaced by Samuel. Indeed he was very stingy since 90% of his replies to our list of questions was a big no. My fiance and I find it difficult to work with him if everything is so rigid. I supposed another guy you can look for is the banquet manager Jeffrey.

Have you chosen your theme? Seriously, we have a hard time choosing the best among the worse. The oldies song list and out of fashion wedding flavors is another headache. :( And I do hope nothing bad happened on my AD and this guy will be reachable.

Clubbymouse:I think she left abt a month ago when I was trying to look for her to make some payment. Till now I have yet to hear from the replacement yet n my AD is in jan'14. I agree that her service was great that's y we signed up too. Guess I'll have to contact them for the replacement if I still do not hear from them soon ;(

Hi madeliene and jessgirl, how was your overall review for Amara? Hopefully you get to see this message. Any tips for upcoming btbs?

Hi Clubbymouse. Care to share with us what additional perks Jeffrey gave you?

Hi cheery_ant, Jeffrey is the banquet mgr which means you look for him for everything on your ad. He don't touch on sales matters. Samuel is the replacement coordinator of mine and have yet to meet up with him. We liaise via phone and email so far. My perks were as per wedding show last year. I can email the file to you if you are keen to know.

I have called and asked to arrange an appointment with Samuel to discuss my Big Day. But everytime I called, he is either out for long lunch or training. Finally when I manage to get him after numerous emails and phone calls, he told me he is not working on weekends and after 7pm!
I do not trust the most important day of my life in his care and will ask for a change of coordinator.

Cherry_Ant, I feel you as I also have a hard time locating him. I highly recommend you to email him and cc [email protected] for faster reply. At least, there is someone else overseeing your email instead of letting him sit on the email for days. Btw can share which coordinator you have change and comments? We wanted to change him away as we are having several communication breakdown with him. Anyway, I drop you a PM.

Sorry been MIA for quite sometime. My coordinator is Raymond goh, he is very prompt in his reply. Mayb BTBs can request for him.
So far so good. our last convo was that he send me a timeline and then he said he will contact me when my AD is nearer.

So far, what I know is that those coordinators really don't work during weekends. I just realised that I ought to be worried but ever since the peak feeling of planning my wedding. I signed up bridal package n hotel 2wks after I got proposed. now I'm in a complacent mode. :(
this is not very good..

my wedding perks are : 988++/table, free flow beer thru out the event (incl pre-cocktail), additional free one night stay for helpers in deluxe room, wavier of 25 btls of wine. n I change my dessert from mango sago pomelo to yam paste FOC (i'm a teochew)

Hi Stephiey,
Could you please give me Raymond's email address? I think your perks are quite good :) May I enquire how many tables do you have and which ballroom are you using? Thanks a lot.

I received a auto-reply for my email sent to Samuel. He is on leave! :(
Long lunch breaks... training...on leave.... off days....
Left message ask him call back but take a very long time to call me. In the end I have to call him again.
Is he working or what?

I just had my wedding dinner not so long ago. My final feedback with regards to the whole experience are as follows:

Very poor follow up and service from coordinator Samuel. Cant reach him most of the time (before and during event). Very slow in getting back to me. Even till the very actual day, most of the things we discuss before the event were not carried out or provided. When he ask him for something during the AD, he will give excuses and say no. Even when we approach the banquet manager, we were ignored or told to check with Samuel.
As this being the most important day of our lives, we would expect him to be around when we need him. But he was seen attending to guests, selling his packages! He even bring them into the Ballroom whereby we would appreciate some respect and privacy for our event. Those people even have the cheek to touch my wedding stuff and open my gifts and take pictures of my specially designed gifts, albums and props. My helpers told off those pests and Samuel just laugh it off.
We even gave him a Red Packet of $80 for all his crap service! Thinking about it, we should not have given him that
Food and service wise during banquet were alright. However there are many part-timers who do not seem to know what to do.
The upside about Amara is the large Foyer area and event space which is exclusive to us and the overall value for money package.
For Brides like clubby mouse and Stephiey, wish you all the best in your upcoming event.
Bye!

Are you one of the typical customers who insist to have appointments after 8 pm or can come only during weekends claiming to be busy and cant take annual leave on weekdays etc?
Or did you insist to have a look at venue with actual setup before signing up or to have food tasting sessions where a wedding is to be held?
If you had previously insisted on coming to have a look at a wedding setup for other couples before you sign up, why cant sales staff bring other people to have a look at you setup then?
You should be proud that other people take photos of your wedding set-up and not be upset over it.

Congrats to all BTBs, I will be holding my wedding at Amara (Tanjong Pagar) in the later part of the year.
Before signing up with Amara, my wife and I had been to almost all the hotels before coming to a decision.
My Sales Manager is Raymond. So far we find him to be very knowledgeable and frank and honest in his dealings. (He may look stern though).
Most of the other Sales people in other Hotels who attended to us tend to be patronizing me and my wife and can promise us a lot of things.
However, as both my wife and I used to work in hotels and FnB before, we need a clear understanding and a truth view of what can be done and what cannot be done. (Its better to have a heart to heart discussion now then realize we have been tricked into some sales talk later on)
After considering for a long time, we decided to sign up with Amara with Raymond as our coordinator. (We had also met up with the other guy call Samuel before looking for Raymond)
So far, we are happy with his services. But the only problem is trying to fix an appointment with him in the evenings (maybe due to his popularity?)

They can do soft booking meh? Apparently when we asked to hold longer.. they say cant reserve or something along the line. Anyw.. we had alr decided on the date and thus paid for it. Sadly i cant take advantage of the wedding show! :(

I think that time we were 1 week away from the wedding show so we ask him help to keep the date for us, he can only keep a look out becos if other couple put down deposit for that date before wedding show den he cant keep for us as well. he hold the date for us during wedding show till a certain timing. Any way since decided, enjoy the planning and dont worry :)

I wholehearted agree! Whats the point of promising the sky when nothing is delivered?
Most Sales people go through their sales pitch NATO style (No Action. Talk Only.)
After signing up with Samuel, I can hardly get hold of him through emails or phone calls. I have to keep asking him what to do next! Very poor after sales service.
Most of the time, the other coordinator Raymond is doing his duty eg sending us wedding cards form and song list etc.
Before signing up, Sam also told me piano at foyer can be used. When my friend try to play us a lovely piece during the cocktail reception, I was stopped by the banquet staff. I try to look for Samuel and he was no where to be found. Later I found out through the staff he is hiding in the office.

No. I did not change him.
He is my coordinator from the time i sent in a email till my AD!
You may wish to refer to all my other postings above with regards to my encounter to him.
Anyway you have read the reviews and done your homework before signing up. So just stick to him! Changing coordinators will not help matters as what was promise to you will only be honored by your Sales person.

OMG... So careless of him to even miss out on signing of contract. Must have been spotted by somebody else and so he quickly contact you about it. Nothing to do with honesty.

mine is the better of the lot.. Raymond :D

yah, I told htb my fren at amara for wedding the 1st question he asked was how was the food too..

I think food n portion is my biggest concern. service wise, as long as their wait staff don't pour hot drinks on my guest or spill wine on my dress.
I think I should be fine. hahaha :p

I read with interest all the exchanges that has been going around.
I will be attending their show end of the month.
Who should I look for and how can I go about choosing the person to attend to me?
Thanks

so excited. let's hope they keep the good food up.

I went to bridal suite before. quite pretty :)
u can go take a look since there is a wedding show coming up even though u have already signed up :D

ironically, I have never met Raymond. I sign last yr during their wedding show.
my sales was from corporate sales. he was there to help out. but all that he promised was in the contract and I paid deposit on the same day.

During wedding show, most are from corporate sales for hotel room to support.
The main wedding co-ordinator are Raymond and Samuel.
I think you can choose one of them based on review.
