S electing a wedding venue is the most important wedding decision you’ll have to make when planning your celebration. Whether you’re dreaming of a garden wedding, or a glamorous and elegant wedding banquet, your wedding venue plays a huge role in creating the ambience you desire. It is also the most expensive item on your wedding budget, so selecting the perfect one can be a challenge. We’ve put together a quick guide on what you should look out for when it comes to choosing a wedding venue.

Beginning Your Search for a Wedding Banquet Venue

There are three things you need to discuss with your partner before your wedding banquet venue search. First, decide on the style of wedding you want. With your wedding style in mind, you’ll be able to narrow down your venue choices, such as to hotel ballrooms if you’re going for a grand and elegant wedding, or a glass-walled venue if you want a clean and minimalist celebration. Second, work out a budget. Third, decide on possible wedding dates and have an estimated guest head count after speaking to your families as well about the number of guests they want to invite.

Use the filters on our handy wedding banquet price list to help you narrow down your choices quickly based on your budget, capacity needs, and wedding date. What to Expect from a Wedding Package

Many hotel wedding venues and restaurants have wedding packages to make wedding planning easier for couples. Venues usually offer a range of packages to suit your budget and menu preferences, although most packages include the following items:

Some other common wedding package perks are a complimentary day-use room for your wedding helpers, anniversary stay voucher, complimentary wedding menu tasting, dining credits for the bridal suite, free flow of beer, a bottle of wine per confirmed table, or points for free honeymoon nights around the world. Wedding package perks vary across the different wedding banquet venues.

When comparing the prices of wedding packages, you should consider the items included in the packages. For example, a more expensive package may include free flow of beer and wine while a less expensive one may not, incurring further charges if you decide to purchase alcohol on top of the package.

Tips to Save on Your Wedding Package

The most expensive wedding packages are weekend dinner packages on Saturdays and Eves of and on Public Holidays. Slightly cheaper are Friday and Sunday wedding dinner packages. If you would like to save some money, consider hosting a weekday dinner or a weekend lunch banquet, as those are the least expensive wedding packages.

You may also not need every item in a typical wedding package. If you’ve already hired an external florist, you might like to speak to your wedding coordinator to negotiate swopping the included wedding theme for something else. Many venues also offer the option to customise your wedding menu, so ask your coordinator if you can make changes. While wedding package prices are generally non-negotiable, most wedding coordinators are happy to customise your wedding package to your needs by adding or subtracting items.

Don’t forget to take advantage of various credit card cashbacks and miles rewards programmes to maximise savings on your wedding package too!
