Designer Feature: Theia Fall 2015 Collection

This Fall, Theia takes us to the snow capped mountains and icy blue rivers of Mongolia in their latest Fall 2015 Collection. Inspired by Mongolia’s frozen Tundra and alphine meadows, designer Don O’Neill wowed us with a collection of pure white chiffon and tulle gowns embellished with heavy Venice winter lace, sequins, pearls and crystals that were reminiscent of frozen icicles glistening under the sun. Warmer fabrics such as hand-woven tweed, luxurious cashmere and lamb wraps by Naadam, the only socially responsible cashmere company, were also part of the collection and more than perfect to keep the frosty cold out.

The show began with a beautiful winter white embroidered hand-woven ribbon tweed coat with a duchess satin shawl collar named Yel Ana, followed by a plethora of whimsical hand embroidered ivory gowns in Chantilly lace and silk georgette, organza and chiffon that dazzled everyone in the room. The intricate beading and embroidery on every gown was impeccable and absolutely stunning, especially Erdene, a glacier blue fil coupe gown with a jeweled back, Anastasia, a porcelain and mirrored sequin, hand embroidered icicle gown, and Leia, a silver metallic Chantilly lace crop top over glacier blue glazed silk fil coupe ball skirt.

But the gown that stole our hearts and got all the cameras hot was the closing dress, Ak Ana, a winter white Mongolian lamb poncho over a Venice lace mermaid gown. While Ak Ana might not be the most practical option for our Summer-all-year-round weather, I have no trouble imagining myself walking down the aisle in this graceful number, and I’m sure many of you wouldn’t have trouble doing so either! I can also imagine myself in Kerry, an ivory Spanish tulle strapless number with hand embroidered sequin and pearl bodice. Oh, who am I kidding – I can imagine myself in every Theia gown. Who’s with me?
